Rolfing is a bodywork technique that releases chronic tension, improves postural alignment and restores easy movement to the body. It is like a deep-tissue massage, only better! Those who have tried Rolfing notice long term improvements in their posture and relief from chronic pain.

Rolfing will help you:

  • Improve your posture
  • Reduce or eliminate chronic pain
  • Recover from an injury
  • Feel good!

The Rolfing process unfolds over a series of 10 sessions which progressively release accumulated tension in the body’s connective tissue system. As it’s name suggests, connective tissue connects all parts of the body. When one’s body is overloaded, due to injury, repetitive strain or trauma, the connective tissue compensates for this stress by hardening, offering stability and compromising elasticity. For this reason, Rolfing treatment on one area of the body often has beneficial effects in other areas that are seemingly unrelated. Rolf Practitioners work the fascia to restores alignment throughout the body, restoring elasticity, health and  wellbeing.

Where does it come from?

Rolfing is named after it’s creator, Dr Ida Rolf, an american bichemist who graduated Columbia University in the 1920s. Her most important insight was to understand that connective tissue can be manually altered to improve the body’s alignment and it’s overall health.  She devoted 4o years of her life researching and developing the 10 session protocol now known as Rolfing Structural Integration.
